Boys’ night out

The fellas

This is me, Renold and Marco. We went to a Sichuan restaurant last night, followed by some lemon, lime & bitters at The Lounge. It was a great night.

The photo’s a bit blurry. I’m in the process of becoming more accustomed to resizing photos so they fit on this blog without moving my menu down to the bottom of the screen in IE. Long clumsy sentence, I know.

keyboard configuration

Wednesday, December 5th, 2007

Recently, due to a virus attack, I decided to reformat the hard drive and start over.

It gave me the opportunity to rethink the way I wanted Windows to work.

Most importantly, I’m really happy with the way our keyboard is set up.

I’ve installed 5 keyboard configurations:

Japanese
Chinese (simplified)
English U.S.
English U.K.
Maori

The Japanese is handy for typing the Japanese syllabaries, which I’ve been learning with varied success.

The Chinese is good for communicating with friends in China and elsewhere.

English U.S. we use as our International English keyboard, which allows accentuation and various other symbols.

English U.K. turns off our International English keyboard.

Why Maori? Well, to type Latin, one sometimes needs to add a macron above a vowel. There’s no Latin keyboard configuration with WindowsXP (or probably any other operating system), but Maori also uses macrons, so we installed that!
